Daniel Muelhaupt





Daniel Muelhaupt enrolled in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary in October 2000 and qualified as a Pilot in September 2001.
Daniel Muelhaupt served as an Aircraft Commander in the AUXAIR program based at U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Miami.

USCG Auxiliarist Muelhaupt is a qualified Vessel Examiner and Communication Specialist.
Mr. Muelhaupt served in Flotilla Staff Officer and Assistant District Staff Officer positions in Aviation, Communications, and AUXSCOUT and is currently (2025) a District Staff Officer for AUXSCOUT.

Prior to enrolling in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Daniel Muelhaupt was a Pilot in the Civil Air Patrol (CAP), as well as the Squadron Commander for Miami Senior Squadron 1. Captain Daniel Muelhaupt received the CAP Find Ribbon and also received CAP Commander's Commendation Ribbon for a nightime search and rescue mission on February 29, 2000. "Captain Muelhaupt's quick action in assisting a pilot in distress was instrumental in the swift location of a downed aviator".

Auxiliarist Muelhaupt recently retired from the City of Miami as a Marinas Manager where he successfully managed every marina in the City’s Marinas Division, including Dinner Key Marina the Dinner Key Mooring Facility (as the 1st Harbormaster) Miamarina at Bayside and Marine Stadium Marina. Notably, Mr. Muelhaupt earned a Commendation from the Mayor of Miami for risking his life to rescue others caught by suprise by the fury of an intense summer storm and reduce the hazard posed to life and property of the storm.

Daniel Muelhaupt led the Marinas in preparing for and recovering from Hurricane Irma. In recognition of this work, the Association of Marina Industries selected him to create a training module to share his experience and success with marinas professionals from all over the world at the 2018 Marina & Boatyard Study Tour.

In addition to being an FAA Commerical Pilot, USCG Auxiliary Aviator, and a former Civil Air Patrol pilot Mr. Muelhaupt earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Business Administration from the University of Miami and a Merchant Mariner Credential (6 Pack Captain License) from the United States Coast Guard.
